In the framework of the 10th Pacific Alliance Summit, currently underway in Peru, the bloc's Council of Ministers met with the Pacific Alliance Entrepreneurial Council (CEAP).

The gathering is intended to strengthen trade among the bloc member countries.

Peru's Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister, Magali Silva, affirmed the Pacific Alliance is one of the few blocs holding both meetings in parallel: a Council of Ministers and an Entrepreneurial Council.

"Decisions taken by the Pacific Alliance are shared and coordinated with the private sector with the aim of achieving an impact on society," she stated.

Foreign Trade Ministers focused on important topics, such as innovation and entrepreneurship. In this sense, Peru develops "with great intensity" a chapter related to the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), in order to articulate efforts.

"This year, Peru assumes the Pro-Tempore Presidency [of the Pacific Alliance]; therefore, we will work closely with the private sector to develop global value-chains," she pointed out.

When SMEs understand that the bloc is "no stranger" to them and realize they can benefit from it, "we will truly confirm the Pacific Alliance is for everyone," Silva said.

On the other hand, Chile’s Entrepreneurial Council representative, Alberto Salas, highlighted the relevance of the regional bloc by claiming it has a "high-growth potential."

It must be noted the bloc's Council of Ministers is composed of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade top officials from Colombia, Mexico, Chile and Peru.
