Within the framework of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (December 3th), the "National Paralympic Games 2015" will be held in Lima on November 25th-26th.
This event is aimed at promoting social inclusion of citizens with disabilities.
On this occasion, over 250 disabled athletes from Lima and provinces will practise sports such as sitting volleyball, goalball (for blind participants), wheelchair basketball and bocce.
Between January and October 2015, the Peruvian Social Insurance Institution allowed 2,822 disabled people to do sports.
Currently, 450,000 insured Peruvians suffer from a disability. Physical activity plays an important role in the rehabilitation process.
