Between 1995 and August 2014, some 125 investment contracts valued at S/.82.517 billion (about US$25.786 billion) were signed under the Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) scheme, Comptroller General of the Republic affirmed on Tuesday.
According to the Comptroller General's report titled "Causes and effects of Public-Private Partnership Contractual Renegotiations in Peru", 48 investment contracts were inked during the period from 1995 to 2008, which corresponding investments totaled S/.20.566 (about US$6.426 billion).
Other 77 contracts worth S/.61.951 billion (about US$19.359 billion) were signed between 2008 and August 2014.
According to the study, the number of projects and investment increased considerably due to regulation enacted in 2008, designed to boost regional and local public investments involving the private sector.
It was indicated that PPPs have turned into a landmark in the evolution of infrastructure development.
