Peru organic products dazzle at Biofach 2016

A total of 26 Peruvian companies take part at Biofach 2016, the world's leading trade fair for organic food, taking place from 10-13 February 2016 in Nuremberg, Germany, Peru's Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Magali Silva informed.

The Peruvian delegation is aimed at promoting and positioning organic products in the international market, mainly in Europe.

The products on display include: coffee, maca, sacha inchi, Brazil nuts, eggfruit, quinoa, cañihua, chia, ginger, banana, purple corn, among others.

Peruvian entrepreneurs expect to close US$23 million in deals as a result of a successful participation at fair.

The event gathers more than 2,300 speakers from 86 countries and 44,000 professionals from 129 nations.

Exports

Peru exported US$379 million of organic products in 2015. The most important ones were coffee, banana, cocoa, quinoa, jojoba, mango and maca. Peru’s main export markets were the United States, the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium.
