Peru is on track to assume Pro-Tempore Presidency of the Pacific Alliance in June next year and have an outstanding participation in such a bloc, said Prime Minister Ana Jara.
In a presentation to the Peruvian Congress, the Cabinet’s head stressed “this is an important integration effort.”
Likewise, she went on to state that all Pacific Alliance member countries “share democratic market values and new public management experiences.”
"This profile has allowed us to build up the pillars underpinning the Alliance: free movement of goods, persons, services, capital and cooperation between the member states," Jara added.
Regarding other aspects of the government’s foreign policy, she revealed the country's interest to join the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) by 2021.
OECD member countries are regarded as developed countries, she said. Besides, the organization offers the highest international standards related to public policies, which promote an inclusive economic growth.
In this sense, the prime minister acknowledged the country's entry to the OECD will occur when better public policies are adopted.
