The recent appointment of Pedro Olaechea and Bruno Giuffra as Ministers of Production and of Transport-Communications, respectively, will contribute to boosting the national industry and exports, the Association of Peruvian Exporters (Adex) affirmed on Thursday.

"Pedro Olaechea is a successful businessman and a brand-new kind of politician, who generates the highest expectations in the [production] sector," Adex President Juan Varilias said.

Likewise, the guild leader stressed Olaechea's experience, which will be "fundamental to set in motion an industrialization plan to reactivate that labor-rich sector."

In addition, the exports head vowed Adex's support to the new Production administration.

In this vein, Varilias affirmed Peruvian exporters would participate actively in the Ministry's work meetings to identify and address investment, production and exports hurdles with government authorities.

"The recent recovery of textile and garment sub-sectors —driven by new sales to China or Canada— tells us about the relevance of market diversification," he pointed out.

Transport and Communications

Similarly, the Adex representative described former Production Minister Bruno Giuffra's appointment to the Transport and Communications Ministry as a "positive" move for the country.

In this respect, Varilias highlighted Giuffra's corporate vision, which seeks to provide a competitive and efficient approach to infrastructure investment projects.

To conclude, he expressed his confidence in the new Transport and Communications head to differentiate projects managed by his sector "in order to expedite development as the country demands."
