Up to week 10 of the 2013-2014 season, Peru had exported a cumulative total of 5,608 containers of mango to markets overseas; nearly 1,000 containers more than at the same date in the previous year (4,253 containers).
The Peruvian Association of Mango Producers and Exporters (APEM) noted that the country had reached its historical record on exports of fresh mango during the 2010-2011 season, when they had dispatched 5,664 containers, in a campaign that lasted until week 15.
APEM reported that all the water treatment plant operations for the United States and Japan came to an end during this season's week 10, which only left operations to Europe and Chile, with fruit coming mostly from Casma.
At week 10, Peru exported 162 containers. 134 were sent to Europe, 24 to the United States (20 to the east and 4 to the west), 1 to Canada and 3 to other locations.
The exporters top ranking is comprised by Sunshine Export (9%), Camposol (8%), Dominus (6%) and Frutas Piuranas and FLP del Peru (5%), all members of the EMPA .
In turn, Amazon Produce (8%), Nature's Pride (5%), Freska Produce and Roveg Fruit (4%), make up the importers top ranking positions.
According to Freshplaza.com, it should be noted that the United States is the main destination for Peruvian mango, with 39% of total shipments, followed by the Netherlands (38%), England (9 %), Canada (5%) and Spain (3%).
