Emergency caused by torrential rains, floods and landslides battering Peru has claimed 91 lives to date, National Emergency Operations Center's (COEN) latest report revealed on Tuesday.
According to updated data, natural disasters have so far left 122,788 victims, 797,789 citizens affected, whereas damaged homes stand at 176,394.
Said report took Piura's recent heavy rains and flooding events into account.
According to COEN spokesman Jorge Chavez, Armed Forces and National Police have deployed a 500-nember rescue team to assist Piura residents in need of help.
The mission is joined by a 60-rescue-firefighter brigade, said Chavez from COEN headquarters in Lima.
