Peruvian national production expanded 3.61% last November, thus accumulating 88 months of continuous growth, the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) announced.

Accumulated production in Jan–Nov 2016 saw a 3.94% increase, whereas in Dec 2015–Nov 2016 it grew 4.17%, INEI head Anibal Sanchez informed.

November's progress was explained in part by mining and hydrocarbons (15.38%), farming (1.24%) and fishing (23.27%) sectors. Said three activities grew 11.67% as a whole, and accumulated a 12.31% rise in December 2015 – November 2016.

"Growth in national production last November was determined by the 5.2% increase in total exports volume, mainly in traditional products (7.6%) such as gold, copper, iron, lead, oil derivatives, natural gas and coffee," INEI's Head indicated.

Sanchez also underlined the positive evolution of household consumption evidenced in higher retail sales (0.3%) and credit card consumption (9.5%).

Such production boost posted by most economic activities led to November's GDP rise.

In this sense, sectors mining and hydrocarbons; manufacturing; telecommunications and transport; as well as storage and messaging accounted for 78% of national production expansion in the said month.

Growth by sector

Commerce saw a 0.47% expansion thanks to the evolution of wholesale (0.88%) and retail (0.34%) sales.

On the other hand, telecommunications and other information services increased 8.43%, underpinned by telecommunications, which grew 11.05%. Said expansion was driven by Internet, cable TV and mobile phone services.

Likewise, transport, storage and messaging expanded 2.76%. Transport climbed 3.5%, whereas the storage and messaging sub-sector increased 1%.

Services rose 1.34% due to the positive performance of advertising and market research; professional, scientific and technical activities; as well as administrative and support services.

The manufacturing sector expanded by 2.93% driven by higher primary activity (13.38%). In this respect, preserved fish, crustacean and mollusks (48.29%); oil refining products (9.88%); as well as precious and non-ferrous metals' primary products (6.69%) stood out.
