Peru: Mistura 2015 gastronomic event declared 'of National Interest'

Ferias como el Perú, Mucho Gusto, realizadas en Tacna, confirman el gran interés de los turistas chilenos por las gastronomía peruana.

The 8th edition of Mistura 2015 Gastronomic Fair was declared of National Interest by the Peruvian Executive Power.

The event will take place on September 4-13 in the city of Lima, as was established by a Supreme Decree published in El Peruano official gazette on Wednesday.

Within the scope of their competences, the public sector's entities will lend support to the festival, it noted.

The regulation also highlights Peruvian gastronomy has been recognized at national and global levels. Thus, Mistura has become an important factor for the sustainable and inclusive development, as well as for the reaffirmation of Peru’s cultural identity.

Likewise, it represents an important tourism promoting mechanism, which draws interest from domestic and foreign guests, it underlined.

Last year 30,000 foreign visitors attended the event, the Peruvian Society of Gastronomy (Apega) indicated.

The Supreme Decree was signed by the President of the Republic, Ollanta Humala Tasso, and the Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Magali Silva Velarde-Álvarez.
