Peru's mining and hydrocarbons sector expanded 1.80% in July 2017, underpinned by higher metallic mining output (4.26%), National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) reported Friday.
In the said month,
metal mining sub-sector saw increases in the production of molybdenum (20.8%), iron (14.6%), zinc (7.1%), silver (2.8%), gold (2.5%),
copper (2.1%) and tin (1.6%).
As for the hydrocarbons sub-sector (-11.02%), natural gas liquids (-13.1%) and natural gas output (-23.4%) experienced decreases. However, crude oil production rose 8.6%.
Electricity
In July 2017, the electricity sub-sector expanded 1.18%, over the same month last year, thus marking three periods of continuous growth.
Likewise, hydroelectric power generation grew 19.5%, whereas thermal and renewable electricity slid 11% and 8.4%, respectively.
