Peru's metallic mining output expanded 1.87% in April 2017 over the same month last year, National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) informed.

Growth was underpinned by greater copper production.

Likewise, positive results were led by the increased extraction of zinc (27.5%), copper (2.4%), silver (3.9%), iron (8.6%), lead (2.9%) and tin (6.4%). However, gold (-5.9%) and molybdenum (-25.9) registered declines.

The hydrocarbons subsector saw a 9.88% decrease, although crude oil exploration grew 6.9%.

Fishery

Last April, fisheries sector production expanded 101.1% over the same period in 2016, thus accumulating 12 months of continuous growth.

The result was driven by greater catches of anchovy-fish (382,660 tons) for indirect human consumption, a 1,860% increase from the same period last year.
