Peru: Lambayeque complexes to welcome 10,000 visitors on Int'l Museum Day

El museo del Señor de Sipán podrá ser apreciado gratuitamente durante este fin de semana largo.

10,000 tourists are expected to visit Lambayeque regions’ six museums on the occasion of International Museum Day set for May 18th, Naylamp-Lambayeque Executive Unit projected while presenting its activities program.

Under the motto “Museums and cultural landscapes,” main activities will be carried out in the Northern city.

The goal is to highlight residents' responsibility towards protecting heritage sites and cultural landscapes.

On the eve, the presentation of academic and cultural activities program saw the participation of directors of complexes: Royal Tombs of Sipan Museum (Walter Alva), Sican National Museum (Carlos Elera) and Huaca Rajada-Sipan Site Museum (Luis Chero).

According to the said authorities, these facilities are an essential instrument for cultural exchange and history enrichment.

Visitors will be granted the chance to appreciate relics, as well metal and ceramic-made pieces put on display at facilities.

They will also be allowed to learn about the great relevance of pre-Hispanic culture, which amazes locals and foreigners with art and technology.

"It will also serve to recognize the praiseworthy efforts undertaken by archaeologists and researchers to discover our important cultural legacy day after day," it was  announced.
