Peru and Kuwait maintain good and developing relations in light of joint agreements of cooperation in various fields, according to Kuwait's non-resident plenipotentiary ambassador in Lima.

Kuwaiti Ambassador Reem Al-Khaled said that relations are expected to develop positively, especially after the visit of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Sabah to Lima in October 2012, to participate in the 3rd Summit between South American nations and Arab countries (ASPA) as representative of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait.

The ambassador, in a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), pointed to the opening of the Embassy of Peru in Kuwait in 2011, and the recent introduction of an ambassador there, stating that it would create new fields for cooperation between both countries.

Al-Khaled, who currently serves as Kuwaiti Ambassador to the Republic of Chile, presented her credentials to Peruvian President Ollanta Humala as non-resident plenipotentiary ambassador to Peru during a ceremony held last Friday at the presidential palace in the Peruvian capital of Lima.

Attending the evenet were Peru's Minister of Foreign Affairs Eda Rivas and Director of Protocol at Peru's Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Alfredo Castro.

The Peruvian leader welcomed Ambassador Al-Khaled during the meeting that followed the credentials' presentation and looked forward to strengthening Peruvian-Kuwaiti relations in all fields, according to the statement.
