Peru's President-elect Pedro Pablo Kuczynski met with Brazil's soccer star Ronaldo de Assis Moreira (Ronaldinho Gaúcho) in the Andean country's Imperial City on Friday night.

"Welcome to Peru. Just in case, I will be holding the presidency by end-July," Mr. Kuczynski told the athlete honored by the warm greeting.

The former F.C. Barcelona striker was given a Peruvian team jersey by the ex-World Bank Officer, who will take office on July 28th.

The gathering was organized by Cusco’s soccer club Cienciano.

As is known, Ronaldinho arrived in Lima on Friday morning and, later, took a plane to the Southern city.

On Sunday, the former World Cup Champion will finally wear Cienciano's jersey and play against Lima's Sporting Cristal.

Months ago, team manager Sergio Ludeña travelled to Rio de Janeiro, where he engaged in talks with Dinho.

The striker agreed to come to Peru, after the entrepreneur explained him the current situation of the club, which in the past claimed the South American Cup (2003) and the South American Recup (2004).

Cienciano is currently relegated from the first league. Thus, the match comprises a campaign aimed to support the team's return into first division.

"He wants to connect with Peruvian culture, and learn about Cusco traditions. He told me that we would like to explore Machu Picchu," Ludeña expressed in the past.
