Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski announced his administration will promote anti-corruption initiatives and pledged to ensure public safety in the country.
Particularly in the case of anti-corruption, Peru has approved the Civil Death Law, a mechanism to weed out corrupt politicians from the State and prevent them from continuing to serve there.
Judicial reform
The Peruvian leader took the opportunity to welcome the attempt to reform the judicial system.
On the other hand, he urged the Judiciary and the Executive to work together against organized crime.
"Criminals have suffered heavy blows, but we have to make sure they will be kept in jail," he warned during his speech.
Comptroller General's Office
As stated on his traditional address to the nation, the Head of State is convinced the Comptroller General's Office must change its objectives and methods.
Public safety
Considered the main concern among citizens, insecurity constituted an important part in Mr. Kuczynski's Friday address.
"We have implemented a firm, efficient strategy based on concrete goals and indicators. Peruvians do not expect promises but results," he was quoted as saying.
'Mega operations'
According to Peru's top official, his Government has executed 73 'mega operations' resulting in the dismantling of criminal organizations and the capture of dangerous individuals.
In fact, "we have gotten more officers out from behind their desks and onto the streets."
Firefighters
Firefighters' role in society is vital, which explains why they have been given full autonomy, discretionary pension and compensation for accidents, under a new law.
Also, the statesman affirmed his administration has stepped up efforts to tackle discrimination against firemen and women when applying for bank loans or life insurance.
