Peruvian Justice Minister Marisol Pérez Tello, accompanied by Ambassador to the United States Carlos Pareja, met with U.S. Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein to discuss bilateral judicial cooperation issues.
The meeting highlighted efforts by both countries to strengthen international judicial cooperation against corruption in the hemisphere.
Likewise, the minister stressed the need to accelerate the nearly-forty extradition cases still pending resolution by the U.S. Justice system.
"Today more than ever, it is necessary to issue signals of progress in those issues that affect the rule of law and the strengthening of democracy in our countries," Perez Tello emphasized.
Also attending the meeting were Kenneth Blanco, Acting Assistant Attorney General, and Bruce Swartz, Deputy Assistant Attorney General and Counselor for International Affairs. Carmen Rosa Villa, advisor to Perez Tello, also joined the event.
