Municipal Company of Festivities in Cusco (Emufec) has raised the price on Inti Raymi (Festival of the Sun) tickets for the 2017 edition.

Slated to take place on June 24th —as every single year— the festival gears up to welcome thousands of attendees at Sacsayhuaman Archaeological Park.

Emufec Vice Chairman Geovanni Madrid affirmed the event has a capacity of 3,776 seats for locals and tourists to enjoy the performance from the front row.

Ticket prices are as follows: Blue VIP seats: US$150 (previous price: US$140). Orange seats: US$130 (previous price: US$120).

A total of 200 spaces were reserved for locals (Cusco citizens). There are separate ticket prices for tour guides and children.

Madrid explained the rise was owed to the appreciation of the dollar against the local currency.

Nevertheless, she claimed the price is affordable, considering that over 50% of the seats have already sold out.

The ancient Inca tradition —a ceremony held in honor of Inti or Sun God—  will come to life at three different venues: Qoricancha Temple, Cusco's Main Square and Sacsayhuaman Fortress.

The main event will be held at the stunning Inca Fortress of Sacsayhuaman, set to receive close to 80,000 attendees.

Around 7,000 and 5,000 people are projected to attend Qoricancha and Main Square events, respectively.
