Peru: Infrastructure investment to reach nearly US$18.9 billion

Investment in infrastructure carried out by the current administration, which invests own resources and the contribution of Public-Private Partnerships, will exceed S/.60 billion (US$18.9 billion), Transport and Communications Minister José Gallardo affirmed.

The sector's budget amounts nearly S/.8.7 billion (about US$2.7 billion).

"If we add previous years budgets, I think that the government will have invested over S/.30 billion (about US$9.5 billion) by July 2016," he told El Peruano official newspaper.

"Besides, there are Public-Private Partnerships and the private investments, which are mostly carried out in the telecommunications sphere. During the current administration, I estimate the total of investments in the transport and communications sector will exceed S/.60 billion (about US$18.9 billion)," Minister Gallardo stated.

Among the top projects are: The Lima Metro Line 2 and the Optic Fiber Backbone.
