Foreign Affairs Minister, Gonzalo Gutierrez affirmed today the Peruvian Government has not yet received a response from Chile, in regard to the diplomatic note issued by Peru to the Southern nation’s government.

The diplomatic note is due to the espionage acts carried out by three non-commissioned Peruvian naval officers, in favor of Chile.

“We have not yet [received a response]. We are waiting for a constructive and precise response, I reiterate […],” said the Minister in remarks to the press after being asked regarding the matter.

He reminded a deadline has not been set for Chile to respond through the diplomatic channels.

The Peruvian government has complied with providing corresponding information about the case to his Chilean counterpart, Heraldo Muñoz.

Finally, Peru has expressed its concern about the political violence spread in Venezuela. A bet on dialogue is made, so the problems in that country can be solved, the Minister ratified.

“The Peruvian government has twice expressed its concern in regard to the [current] situation [unleashed] in Venezuela. We believe the bridges must remain, in order to promote the domestic dialogue in the country,” he stated.
