Peru guest of honor at El Cervantino International Festival

The National Folklore Cast and the National Symphony Orchestra (OSN) will begin a Mexico tour today, as honored guests at the prestigious 43rd Cervantino International Festival to be held in the city of Guanajuato.

Other Pacific Alliance member-countries Chile and Colombia are invited to participate as well.

On October 7, the Peruvian National Folklore Cast (ENFP) will lead the festival's opening ceremony at the Alhondiga de Granaditas explanade.

"We will present a collection of best shows performed at Lima's Grand National Theatre. It is a repertoire that includes dances from the three natural regions of Peru," the Culture Ministry National Cast Chairman Mauricio Salas affirmed.

A total of 10 dances plus two musical shows from the coast, highland and rainforest regions such as Huaylas (Mantaro Valley), marinera norteña, festejo and pallas de Corongo among others will be performed.

On October 8, the ENFP will perform a show in the Mexican city of Leon.

After their tour, the national cast will return to Lima in order to delight attendees at the Meetings of the Boards of Governors of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund.

OSN's Proposal

On the other hand, the National Symphony Orchestra (OSN) will offer a concert in Guanajuato on October 14.

On the following day, the group will appear at Palace of Fine Arts' main hall located in Mexico city.

OSN delegation is composed of 85 musicians, singers, technicians. The ENFP includes 18 couples of dancers and 14 musicians.
