Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski on Friday held a work meeting with Guatemalan counterpart Jimmy Morales, with whom he agreed to deepen bilateral relations.

The audience took place at Paris-based Pierre Mendes France Conference Center following the opening of OECD's International Economic Forum on Latin America and the Caribbean "Rethinking Globalization for Youth and Inclusive Development."

The meeting —which Mr. Kuczynski described as "highly productive"— addressed a range of subjects "including the region's [Latin America] situation, free trade and visa-less travel."

Joining the Head of State were Peruvian Foreign Affairs Minister Ricardo Luna, Ambassador to France Alvaro de Soto, Foreign Ministry Economic Affairs Director-General Luis Quesada, as well as International Affairs Advisor Roberto Rodriguez.

On the other hand, President Morales agreed with President Kuczynski that the meeting proved "productive."

Similarly, he expressed Guatemala's interest in joining the Pacific Alliance, economic bloc composed of Peru, Chile, Colombia and Mexico.

"Above all, we have discussed economic subjects we share common ground in. Guatemala wants to become part of the Pacific Alliance; we have Guatemalans investing in Peru, and we want more Peruvians investing in Guatemala," he affirmed.

To conclude, Mr. Morales congratulated the Government and people of Peru on their relentless fight for environmental conservation, and expressed his commitment to "continue to forge closer [bilateral] ties."

Pacific Alliance

The Pacific Alliance is a deep integration process uniting Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru.

The bloc fosters the free circulation of people, goods and services across its territories.

It also aims to harness the opportunities provided by economic and financial integration thus guaranteeing solid and inclusive growth.
