Peru’s Housing, Construction and Sanitation Ministry is working on a drinking water and sanitation project aimed to benefit over 500,000 inhabitants of Lima’s peripheral districts, the head of the portfolio Francisco Dumler affirmed.

The said districts are San Juan de Miraflores, Villa El Salvador and Villa Maria del Triunfo, which shelter a considerable proportion of low-income population.

Dumler made the announcement during a meeting held with mayors, representatives of the said city councils and State-owned Sedapal water service company Head Ramon Huapaya.

The “ Drinking Water and Sewage Systems Expansion and Enhancement” project entails an investment worth S/.20 million (about US$6.19 million).

The initiative is comprised in the Supreme Decree, which creates the Multisectoral Group for sanitation investment stimulus of Lima and Callao provinces.
