The Peruvian Government has worked hard to reduce investment gap in research and development, Production Minister Piero Ghezzi affirmed on Friday.

This progress has been achieved thanks direct measures on tax subsidies and technology expansion.

Likewise, Ghezzi indicated that the Peruvian State had to intervene with the purpose of reducing spending on investigation, development, science and technology by encouraging investments and prioritizing talent, as well as human capacity.

Measures adopted

A tax deduction for research and development expenditures came true. Likewise, the Technological Innovation Centers (CITE) development plan is currently under execution, he underlined.

The State has created 25 public CITEs and promoted the development of 10 private ones.

"On the one hand, funds for innovation purposes have climbed significantly [...]. Thus, the State is providing a series of instruments to close the innovation gap," Ghezzi said.

Human capital

At the same time, the head of the Production sector affirmed the Peruvian State has taken important steps on human capital development.

In this sense, he highlighted the progress made in the education field. However, much remains to be done in training matters, he noted.
