Peru’s Education Ministry (Minedu) and the National Council for Science, Technology and Technological Innovation (Concytec) agreed to carry out joint actions to promote scientific research at universities thanks to an investment worth S/.24 million (about US$7.66 million) thru 2019.

The joint work will be conducted on the basis of the inter-institutional agreement signed by Education Minister Jaime Saavedra and the Concytec President Gisella Orjeda on Saturday night.

“Our goal is to enhance the skills for scientific, technological research and student innovation,” the Minister pointed out.

Thus, Minedu will initially transfer S/.6 million (about US$1.94 million) and other amounts thru the year 2019. The money is aimed at contributing to increasing the number of researchers in the country.
