The Government of Peru ensures a transparent and adequate electoral process, as well as a smooth transition to the next administration, Labor and Employment Minister Daniel Maurate assured on Sunday.

"We are doing our best to guarantee an orderly, transparent and fair electoral process, and to turn it into a historic event,” he was quoted as saying by Andina news agency.

He went on to add this will be the third time in Peruvian history that a democratically elected president will transfer the office to another democratically elected president.

The current administration is focused on ensuring elections' proper development in order to ensure ongoing economic growth.

According to the official, the priority is to ensure an efficient transition for the next president, so that the upcoming administration will be strong enough to contribute to the national economic growth.

"The Government is keen to make sure the electoral process is as fair and transparent as possible, so that people can decide democratically for their next governor [...]," the minister stated.

Peruvian citizens will go to the poll on April 10, 2016. They will elect a new President, two Vice Presidents, members of Congress (130) and the Andean Parliament.
