The Government of Peru has established an Extraordinary High-Level Commission, to be chaired by second Vice-President Mercedes Araoz.

The committee will work towards the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) 2016 Forum’s Leaders Summit to take place in Lima in November.

The special delegation will be also composed of Ministers of: Foreign Affairs; Interior; Foreign Trade and Tourism; Economy and Finance.

According to a supreme decree published in El Peruano official gazette, the commission will determine necessary guidelines, strategies and measures to guarantee Peru’s success as host of APEC Forum 2016.

Corresponding commission will be supported by APEC Peru 2016's Multisectorial Temporary Working Group and Special Project, within their sphere of competencies.

High-Level Commission Ministers will be allowed to appoint alternate representatives to attend the group's sessions on their behalf, when necessary.

As part of activities, the Multisectorial Working Group may request cooperation, opinion and contribution from other ministries and public institutions, including programs and special projects.

Likewise, it may seek cooperation from private institutions, civil society and specialized professionals to support them in fulfilling obligations.

APEC Forum is an economic dialogue and cooperation mechanism established in 1989 composed of 21 Asia-Pacific Region economies.
