Peru's government will promote consensus and unity in order to successfully implement the reconstruction of areas affected by natural disasters, Defense Minister Jorge Nieto announced.
The Andean country is currently at the mercy of "Coastal El Niño" phenomenon characterized by heavy rains, landslides and floods that have destroyed infrastructure and crops, as well as left many citizens homeless.
Likewise, the cabinet member highlighted the need to execute urban planning with the purpose of reorganizing the nation's territory.
The official underlined the government must continue undertaking multispectral efforts along with Peruvians' solidarity at aimed tackling emergencies caused by the onslaught of nature.
"This situation gives us a historic opportunity to transform people's lives [...]," Nieto told reporters.
In addition, he highlighted emergencies arisen in the country's high areas were attended thanks to Armed Forces' helicopters.
