Peru: Government appoints new Deputy Ministers of Hydrocarbons and Electricity

The Executive Branch has ordered the appointment of the new deputy ministers of Hydrocarbons and Electricity, as well as of the new board chairman of the State-run company Perupetro.

Via Supreme Resolution No. 005-2024-EM, published in the Official Gazette El Peruano on Wednesday, Iris Marleni Cardenas Pino was appointed to the position of Deputy Minister of Hydrocarbons.

She will replace Julio Walter Poquioma Shaffer, who was thanked for services rendered.

Via Supreme Resolution No. 006-2024-EM, Victor Teodoro Carlos Estrella was appointed as Deputy Minister of Electricity, following the resignation of Jaime Eulogio Luyo Kuong, who was also thanked for the services provided.

On the other hand, via Supreme Resolution No. 004-2024-EM, Jorge Eduardo Pesantes Escalante was appointed to the position of Perupetro's new board chair, once the designation of Isabel Mercedes Tafur Marin in said position had been terminated.

Perupetro is a State-run company. It is responsible for promoting, negotiating, underwriting, and monitoring contracts for exploration and exploitation of hydrocarbons in Peru.
