Peru will play their next home qualifying match for the 2014 World Cup without spectators, world's soccer governing body FIFA announced on Friday.

The ban was imposed over the improper actions of Peruvian supporters during a Sept. 6 match against Uruguay in Lima.

According to the FIFA Disciplinary Committee, the match officials reported "several very serious incidents of improper conduct committed by local fans."

FIFA also fined the Peruvian Football Association (FPF) 20,000 Swiss francs, or about 22,000 US dollars.

The Peruvians, who are already out of contention for a place at the World Cup in Brazil, will face Argentina in Buenos Aires on Oct. 11 and host Bolivia in Lima four days later.
