The number of Japanese diners attending Peruvian restaurants is increasing in the Asian country's main cities, Peruvian Ambassador to Japan Elard Escala highlighted.

Initially, these restaurants were exclusively designed to serve food to Peruvian immigrants living in the Land of the Raising Sun.

"However, there is currently a growing number of Japanese diners. Thus, the Peruvian gastronomy is on its way to internationalization and is present in Tokyo, as well as in other relevant Japanese cities,” Escala underlined.

In this sense, the Peruvian Embassy promoted "Oishii Peru" (Tasty Peru), a gastronomic, cultural and tourism-related event held in Tokyo for the second time on September 5-6.

Nearly 50,000 Peruvian citizens reside in the Asian nation. Most of them work in the manufacturing sector, food- and auto industry.
