Peru's Defense Minister Jakke Valakivi stressed the presence of a delegation from France's Special Military School of Saint-Cyr, which will be in charge of drawing up a report designed to improve Lima-based Chorrillos Military School's pedagogical and military levels.

"In a globalized world, officers must rely on academic training based on excellence, strong military culture, up-to-date strategy and tactics knowledge; those factors are being sought in future Peruvian Army's officers," the government official expressed.

Meanwhile, Chorrillos Military School Head Carlos Mayca Vasquez indicated that French officers, Major Pierre Malavaux and Captain Christophe Beth, are in charge of monitoring the pedagogical process and training received by the institution's cadets.

The goal is for them to submit a report at the end of their stay aimed to enhance pedagogical training.

The French presence comes in the framework of a current support-project designed to modernize this military academy, whose first Director in 1898 was French Colonel Paul Clément, a Head of the French Army's mission aimed at reorganizing, restructuring and modernizing Peruvian Armed Forces.

Advice provided by visiting officers will be applied for the benefit of the institution, which builds Peruvian Army officers.
