Peru Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister opens Pacific Alliance Business Summit

Peru’s Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Magali Silva inaugurated the “CEO Leadership Conference – Leading growth” in the framework of the 10th Summit of the Pacific Alliance held Paracas city (Peru's Southern Ica region).

Likewise, the head of the Ministry highlighted the fact that 42 countries have submitted requests to join the bloc.

“The [Pacific] Alliance has drawn interest of the five continents, and nowadays we [the bloc] have 32 Observer States, and 10 requests are underway [...],” she told during the inauguration.

Likewise, she underlined the Pacific Alliance hosts a 216 million-population, turning the regional bloc into the fifth-largest population in the world holding a GDP per-capita recorded at US$9,852.

“Most of this population is composed of millennials; a segment with an outstanding level of consumption,” she told.

The Minister pointed out the Pacific Alliance has become the ninth largest exporting economy in the world by having registered shipments worth US$567 billion in 2014.

With regard to growth rates, she reminded the said bloc was the sixth most relevant economy in the world, having reached an annual joint expansion of 2.7% in recent years.

It must be noted the said bloc is composed of Mexico, Peru, Colombia and Chile as Member States.
