Peru: Foreign Affairs Minister authorized to attend UN General Assembly

The Peruvian government authorized Foreign Affairs Minister Ana Maria Sanchez’s trip to the United States, where she will participate in the 70th United Nations General Assembly to be held in New York City.

The head of portfolio will remain overseas on September 20-30 and will accompany President of the Republic Ollanta Humala during the event.

The UN General Assembly will take place in the framework of the 70th Anniversary of the UN Charter, an instrument which led to the United Nations creation on October 24, 1945.

According to Supreme Decree N° 216-2015-PCM, the meeting is aimed at establishing the Post-2015 Development Agenda, as well as setting up the 21st UN Conference of the Parties (COP21) to be inaugurated in December.

The Chancellor's participation in the Assembly constitutes an important opportunity to promote national interests abroad.

The Resolution was signed by President Ollanta Humala, Prime Minister Pedro Cateriano and Foreign Affairs Minister Ana Maria Sanchez.
