State-run social program 'Qali Warma' in 2016 provided nutritious breakfasts to 21,784 children from 343 public schools, situated in the country's southern Moquegua region.

Qali Warma delivers breakfast and lunch to Peruvian public school students from underprivileged areas, especially those residing in native communities.

The program's Moquegua Territorial Unit reported that food delivered to students came in two presentations: portions and products.

'Portions' included an industrialized beverage and a solid foodstuff. The mentioned modality benefited 18,941 schoolchildren from educational institutions based in the region's Ilo, Pacocha, El Algarrobal, Moquegua, Samegua and Torata districts.

The 'products' modality assisted 2,843 students from the region's High-Andean areas, including Carumas, Cuchumbaya and San Cristobal districts, as well as the eleven districts of Sanchez Cerro province. It featured a food basket containing rice, milk, noodles, oatmeal, and other high-protein products.

Likewise, the region's Unit made sure that suppliers delivered food to each institution on time.

In addition, plant and store supervisors, as well as local management monitors, oversaw the safety of products and corresponding distribution according to the program's requirements.
