The first half of the fishing season saw an over 25% increase, since anchovy catch has exceeded the 2 million tonnes, the Ministry of Production announced.
Last year, it amounted to 1.67 million tonnes, Peru's Minister of Production Piero Ghezzi reminded.
"We have seen a growth of over 25%; only half of the season has passed,” he told reporters.
By the end of the said season 2.5 million tonnes are expected to have been caught, as is permitted, the Minister projected.
If achieved, it would mean a growth of 40%.
