The Finance Ministry has transferred S/.78,887,359 million (around US$25.5 million) to Peru's Regional Governments (Governorships), so those can implement the "Strengthening of Physical Education and School Sport National Plan" at public schools.

Those schools must be attached to the Regular Basic Education modality.

According to the Supreme Decree 35-2015-EF, this transference will enable to finance the hiring of new teachers, network and regional physical-education coordinator, in the framework of the aforementioned plan.

The fund will also serve to cover the expenses related to the maintenance of sports infrastructure, organization of sport games events, travel expenses, training workshops for physical education teachers and network management.

Through Ministerial Resolution N°034-2015-MINEDU, the aforementioned national plan was approved.

This National Plan was launched aiming at improving Peruvian students' conditions for physical and sports development. It will reduce obesity and diabetes rates, among other problems.
