Peru's Finance and Economy Ministry is getting things ready for the next administration to take care of prefinancing the country’s 2017 budget and not of handling any contingency in 2016, the head of the portfolio Alonso Segura affirmed.
"We want to leave a very comfortable situation for the next administration, so it merely takes care of 2017 given that it will rely on several contingency mechanisms required to deal with any situation during 2016. We are getting the house in order," Segura indicated.
Since middle of the year, an organized and responsible asset-liability management strategy has been developed for 2016's budget funding under a medium-term vision, he said.
"Over the last 13 months, we have carried out four major operations on international markets, which —besides funding— have allowed us to reduce levels of dollarization, in anticipation of the current situation," the Minister highlighted.
