The Public Sector Budget Bill for 2016 establishes a 6.3% increase in government-implemented social programs, which proves the social policy remains "active," Finance Minister Alonso Segura affirmed on Wednesday.

Remarks were made during his presentation before parliamentarians at the Congress of the Republic, where he and Prime Minister Pedro Cateriano presented the said bill.

Although the budget increase is less compared to previous years, the Minister indicated that the government is not cutting down its support to social policies.

"We see these programs have reached a maturity stage, which leads to stabilizing the flow of resources these require," he told.

"Nowadays, there is indeed a social policy in the country, an inclusive policy recognized at the international level," the head of the Ministry pointed out.
