Peruvian economy will expand above 3% in the third quarter of the current year, a rate higher than the result obtained between April and June (3%), Finance Minister Alonso Segura forecasted.

Economic growth in Peru had previously increased by 1.8% in the first quarter and by 3.0% in the second one.

"Peruvian economy will keep on accelerating, and I estimate the growth in the third quarter will be higher than the one achieved in the second quarter," he stated on Wednesday.

The Peruvian Congress' Committee on Economy, Banking, Finance and Financial Intelligence unanimously passed the bill introduced by the Executive Power, which promotes liquidity and integration of the stock market.

The said document was introduced last Monday and will be debated during a plenary session on Thursday. If approved, it will be officially enacted.

During his presentation, Segura stated enacting the said bill was “essential” to lead to the Latin American Integrated Market (Mila) consolidation.

"Today the BVL accounts for 10% of the entire Pacific Alliance's stock market. Thus, its integration into Mila could lead to increasing ten-fold its operation field," he pointed out.
