Peru is "honored" to host the Annual Meetings of the Boards of Governors of the WBG and the IMF in Latin America after nearly 50 years, Peru's Finance Minister Alonso Segura affirmed.

The Annual Meetings gives Peru "opportunities to showcase the strengths of Peru in terms of macroeconomic policy."

"Some policy makers, investors know about the success story of Peru, but many of them just because of what they read, and now they have the opportunity to see what it means in reality," the Minister underlined.

"And for us that is really invaluable because we have all the economic minds of the world probably for a few days in Peru, so that is very significant for us," he added.

“I think the way to move forward is to strengthen the policy debate across the world, and in that regard the role that world institutions like the IMF and the World Bank play is substantial," the head of the Ministry expressed.

“We have a great future in Latin America, but we have to engage in the policy dialogue, policy debate," he stated.

The Annual Meetings of the WBG and the IMF were held in Lima on October 5-11. In 1967 such event was held in South America for the last time.
