Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) into Peru totaled US$2.051 billion in 2017's first quarter, up by 61% over the same period last year, the country's Central Reserve Bank (BCR) informed.

Growth was mainly driven by the reinvestment of companies' profits.

Likewise, the figure is the highest registered in the past 15 months. It must be noted FDI into the Andean nation reached US$2.489 billion in 2015's third quarter.

Performance

Lima Chamber of Commerce's (CCL) explained FDI into Peru comprises foreign capitals and companies' profits, which are not withdrawn but rather reinvested.

The result was underpinned by positive expectations generated by the Kuczynski administration, when it took office back in July 2016.
