Farming production has increased by 2.2% between January and September, compared to the same period last year, as a result of the good performance in the agricultural (0.3%) and livestock (5.6%) subsectors, Peruvian Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation (Minagri) reported.

According to a report by the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI), September farming production rose by 3.4% compared to the same month in 2014.

In this sense, Minagri explained the livestock subsector experienced growth of 6.3% in September since chicken production increased by 9.0%, while eggs production grew 7.0%.

Production of raw cow’s milk expanded by 3.0%, given the increasing dairy cattle populations in Arequipa and Cajamarca.

On the other hand, the agricultural subsector growth was driven by an increase in yellow corn (36.0%) and paddy rice (17.0%) production.
