Peruvian economy is undergoing diversification and currently exports more than 8,000 non-traditional products around the world, since shipments have spread to almost all global markets, said Magali Silva, Peru's Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister.
“Non-traditional exports have diversified and more than 8,000 products are being distributed to almost every market worldwide thanks to the trade deals we have signed,” Silva noted.

Likewise, the government official highlighted that 95 percent of non-traditional exports can access these markets with preferential tariffs.

“Avocados and businesses oriented to the export of non-traditional products are very promising, so we should target these types of markets, as we cannot control the prices of commodities,” she added.

It should be noted that agricultural exports rose to US$300 million through May this year, an expansion of 30 percent, which shows Peru is an important niche.

The head of Peru’s Foreign Trade and Tourism Ministry (Mincetur) also claimed that the trade balance has deteriorated due to commodities and traditional exports, which account for more than 70 percent of the total.
