The fifth edition of Expoamazonica 2015 fair came successfully to an end on Sunday and broke the previous record by registering revenue worth S/.35 million (about US$10.26 million).

The announcement was made by Madre de Dios regional Governor Luis Otsuka Salazar, who led the closing ceremony of the Peruvian Amazonia’s most relevant fair.

Thus, the said amount exceeds the initial goal previously set at S/.30 million (US$9.38 million).

According to the governor, deals worth S/.5 million (about US$1.56 million) were concretized throughout the event.

Likewise, he indicated the business roundtable was attended by 32 buyers and 130 producers. Some 600 business meetings were held, which led to wood, chestnut and cocoa sales worth S/.20 million (about US$6.25 million).

On the other hand, the gastronomic zone welcomed thousands of diners. The revenue amounted over S/.500,000 (US$156,250).

The Expoamazonica’s success was also due to the fact that tour packages in the short term reached sales worth S/.2.35 million (about US$734,375).

Finally, he expressed his appreciation to the central government, producers from the Ayacucho, Cusco, Tacna, Puno, Amazonas, Huanuco, San Martin, Loreto and Ucayali regions and their authorities.

Similarly, officials from Brazil and Bolivia also participated in the consolidation of the South America’s Southern axis.

By closing the event, Otsuka handed over the post to Huanuco region, represented by its Deputy Governor Rosalia Storck. The northern region will be in charge of organizing 2016’s next 6th edition of Expoamazonica.
