Peru: Executive Power granted legislative faculties on economic matters

The Congress Plenary session approved by majority the motion, which grants the Executive Power special faculties to issue legislation on administrative, financial and economic matters over a period of 90 days.

The proposal was passed thanks to 86 votes in favor, 21 against and 4 abstentions. 

The Executive Power had requested legislative faculties to boost the economic activities and reach a higher GDP growth in the current year.

During the morning, the President of the Council of Ministers Pedro Cateriano arrived in Congress to attend Plenary session and address the petition officially submitted a couple weeks ago. 

The Prime Minister was joined by Ministers of Finance, Alonso Segura; Production, Piero Ghezzi; Housing, Construction and Sanitation, Milton von Hesse; Transport and Communications, Jose Gallardo Ku; and Energy and Mines, Rosa Maria Ortiz.

According to the International Monetary Fund, Peruvian economic growth will expand by 3.8%.
