Peru is still drawing foreign enterprises and organizations’ attention and heading to become the venue of the world's main events, as was claimed by three U.S. institutions during the first Business Tourism Sales Mission hosted by Washington D.C.-based Trade Office (OCEX) and Peru’s Export and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru).

According to the Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Magali Silva, three companies are currently engaged in coordination and organizing next meetings to be held in the South American country.

The Risk Managamente Society (RIMS) is making arrangements to host the RIMS Risk Forum Latin America in Lima on November 9 – 10.
Likewise, the International Leadership Association is working on setting up a conference to be held in August 2016. Similarly, The American Society of Mechanical Engineering (ASME) has made progress towards holding a Lima-based meeting along with a prestigious private university.

“[...] we are undertaking efforts jointly with the private sector with the aim of turning Peru into the preferred destination for this specialized segment,” the Minister told.

OCEX Washington-issued reports claim there is wide knowledge in the U.S. of Peru being a conventional tourist destination. However, the strategy must be strengthened to turn it into the main destination for international events by making the most of the enthusiasm the country awakes.

The mission saw the participation of Peru's Trade, Tourism, and Investment Office in Washington D.C. Luis Chang and representatives of: Libertador-Westin, Belmond hotel, Condor Travel and DIC Tourism & Economic Development Marketing Agency.
