Peru defeat Algeria 3-0 in World Cup opener

Peruvian volleyball team has begun its participation in the FIVB Volleyball Women's World Cup Japan 2015 with a 3-0 victory over Algeria.

Marasciulo’s side dominated the whole match and the most oustanding players were Karla Ortiz and Katherine Olemar, who scored 12 and 11 points, respectively.

They led the team to a 25-16, 25-13 and 25-16 win in 63 minutes.

The second match of the Peruvian team will be against Korea on Sunday 23 August at 12:10 local time (03:10 GMT). Peruvians will be able to watch the game live tonight (August 22) at 22:10 hrs.

This way Peru has joined the United States and China opening winners at the site B of the 2015 FIVB Women's World Cup.

It should be noted that only the top two teams will qualify for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, and join Brazil as they have already secured a berth as the host country.
