On Tuesday Peruvian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ana Maria Sanchez honored some thirty officials, diplomats and experts — headed by Allan Wagner — who represented Peru in the maritime delimitation process with Chile at The Hague.

At a special ceremony, Sanchez stressed the dedication and high sense of responsibility of those who engaged in the six-year legal process at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and in the implementation of the verdict on the Peru-Chile maritime delimitation.

The decoration of the Order of Merit of the Diplomatic Service of Peru Jose Gregorio Paz Soldan, in various degrees, was given to those present at the ceremony and those who currently serve the country abroad.

The government official highlighted how beneficial the international ruling was as it enabled Peru to gain some 50,000 square kilometers of maritime rights.

She also noted that such an achievement was a result of the State policy conducted by three democratic governments.
