For the second consecutive year, the cities of Cusco, Arequipa, Piura, Iquitos (Loreto) and Tarapoto (San Martin) are Peru's most visited destinations, Lima Airport Partners (LAP) affirmed.

The five cities received a total of 1,540,036 million visitors (national departures via direct flights) between January and July 2015, which accounted for 59% of all passengers registered during the analyzed period.

Likewise, flights to these destinations registered an 11.9% increase, compared to same period in 2014.

According to LAP, Lima's Jorge Chavez International Airport welcomed 9,566,091 million passengers, a number that reflects a growth by 8.9% in the analyzed period.

At the same time, the international and domestic departures increased by 6.7% and 11.0%, respectively. 

International destinations

With regard to international destinations, leading cities were Santiago (Chile), Miami, Bogota (Colombia), Madrid (Spain) and Panama, totaling nearly 808,547 travelers (international departures through direct flight).
The figure accounts for 45% of the total passengers registered between January - July, 2015.

It should be noted that Bogota was ranked third after having welcomed 157,167 visitors; a 36.4% increase compared to last year.
